Award winning TV and Media Production Course starts September 21
Deadline for Gréasán na Meán Skillnet ESF+ Programme fast approaching
Aspiring television and film producers, directors, and editors are invited to apply now for the award-winning Higher Diploma in Arts in Television and Media Production | Ard-Dioplóma sna hEalaíona i Léiriú Teilifíse agus na Meán.
Supported by Gréasan na Meán Skillnet, through the ESF+ programme, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union (www.eufunds.ie), the programme was developed by SETU and Nemeton TV in partnership with Udarás na Gaeltachta.
The course is for those wishing to acquire creative and practical skills training for television, film, and digital online platforms. There will also be a specially developed module on Creating Content for Digital Marketing, with an elective focus on Sport.
The course will be delivered bilingually by industry experts with academic and/or professional backgrounds in Digital Marketing.
About the course:
· Eight-month course blends practical workshops through a three-day block release, with online tutorials.
· Course to be uniquely tailored to the needs of those wishing to upskill or retrain while working, and to students living further afield to avail of the course.
· The newly developed module has a focus on ‘What Does a Marketing Strategy Look Like?’ Each student will create a marketing strategy.
· Blogs, podcasts, social media, and print media, generating followers and interest will be part of the indicative content of this module.
· Each student will also be supported with one-to-one tutorials to deliver an element of the strategy they create. This can be for their main film and/or for a sports project.

Aims of the course:
· To give students a thorough understanding of the key steps in the development of a television programme, drama or corporate digital content, in particular the role of marketing in the development process.
· Familiarise students with budgeting, submission, and pitching processes when presenting television programme ideas to broadcasters and when presenting a video proposal to a corporate client.
· Examine distribution models and the role of social media in a digital context and show students how to identify the range of funding sources available for television programming.
· Critically examine the elements that make up the television programme, and apply that to the creation of budgets, submissions, publicity plans, contracts, and distribution.
· Critically discuss how the Audio-Visual industry operates and how to deal with digital marketing clients.
· Critique the role of Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo in creating digital video content and digital marketing theory of why videos go viral.
The course will also examine Irish and UK broadcasters (how they work, what they want, how to find out), Intellectual Property rights, contracts, identifying funding sources and application procedures, understanding audiences, and the distribution models which govern TV and online programming.
